High Pressure Laminate Facade Board or HPL Board

High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a type of exterior or interior cladding board that uses a layer of laminate pressed together under high pressure with several layers of impregnated cellulose.

High-pressure laminates are very strong, scratch-resistant and lightweight, making them a popular choice for façades both indoors and outdoors.

This technology gives the tile a particularly high resistance to scratches, prolongs the vividness of the tones over time, and allows for structural finishes.

In addition, EBC technology allows the production of curved elements directly in the factory.

Hestia Hotell

At the end of 2019, the new Hestia Hotel Kentmanni opened in the former courthouse on Kentmanni Street. 92 hotel rooms, a restaurant, a spa and a gym have been created to replace the former judges’ offices. The hotel itself is part of the Hestia Hotel Group, the tenth property of the large hotel chain.

The exterior of the building is created by the brown GENTAS G-Wood high pressure laminate (HPL) imitation wood. The tile has been cut into pieces to create the impression of a boarded facade and is in turn fixed to an anodised aluminium frame using a Sika bonding system.

Frequently asked questions

HPL tiles can be fixed:

  • Securing by means of anchors
  • With glue
  • By means of a through-fixing

In the case of blanket fixings, it is necessary to install a special suspension system on the tile, taking into account the size of the tile, its weight, wind load and other external factors.

In the case of bonding, be sure to install the aluminium frame and work in warmer conditions. The installer must be experienced and, preferably, have undergone appropriate training.

In the case of through-fixing, the following must be:

Igale plaadile puurida ette augud neetide või kruvide jaoks.

Üks auk (võimalikult plaadi keskel) peab olema kinnitusvahendiga samas mõõdus (Näiteks, kui needi läbimõõt on 4,8mm, siis auk 5,0mm).

Kõik ülejäänud augud peaksid olema suurema diameetriga, et plaat saaks paisumisel liikuda, mitte ei tõmbaks kaardu.

Vuugivahed plaatide vahel: 8-10 mm

Kinnituste kaugus servast minimaalselt 20mm. Soovitatav on nurgas teha 20/50mm lahendus.

Different materials can be used for the base frame. The aluminium frame is definitely the preferred choice due to its cost, ease of machining and durability (strong and corrosion resistant). Stainless steel, painted steel and sometimes wood can also be used if the requirements for the building frame are not very high. Depending on the frame, a fixing solution must be chosen.

When choosing the thickness of the frame, it is important to ensure that there is at least 20mm of air space between the tile and the base.
